I’d like a laptop for it. But most are 64 bit systems. Is that okay?

In brief….yes it can.

If you are using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition, then it will install most of the applications in 32-bit format and essentially run them below a 32 bit surroundings as opposed to 64-bit. Even so, Photoshop in CS4 comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit installs.
