1) Cheapest overall purchase cost? Macintosh are faster, but it comes at a price, you can get what you get inside a Macintosh in a PC for half the price.
Picture viewing/editing? With extra software, PCs can do the same things as macs in terms of software for video editing. But Macs come with iLife, which can make good looking videos etc.
2) Cheapest cost for parts and add-ons? Parts? Like upgrading, Macs cannot be upgraded. You can customise your pc like mad, macs stay the same.
3) Fastest running speed? Mac probably, but PCs have more stuff on them, as Windows controls 92% of the market.
4) Looks? Macintosh for looks on the hardware front, but they all look the same. You can get PCs with flashy towers and everything. Vista is very sexy, sleek and good looking.
5) Reliability (virus & problem free)? with a good anti virus and anti spyware, your PC can go crash and virus free, until you stop using it. Macs don’t need anti viruses because they only have 3% of the market, so theres no point making a virus for them because no one would notice.
6) Most support for programs? Windows deffinatly. You get games and everything for windows.
7) Music playing? Same, doesn’t matter really.
9) Game playing? PC definatly, no arguement, Macs are NOT gaming platforms. no way.
10) WHICH ONE IS BEST OVERALL??? A PC. Macintosh is more expensive, and not widely used. if you really can’t stand windows, get linux, it’s what I’m using on this laptop, but i have another 3 Windows Vistas, which I love. Mac SUCKS <3 PC
——————————…
Also, does MAC support the program Autocad 2008? ~dunno. Sorry.
And, Laptop vs. Desktop? desktop for PC if your a gamer, it’s cheaper, and works well, I suggest a little windows based laptop if you wanna chat or what ever. macs just aren’t widely enough used to be useful in anyway.
Abacus!?
I would say buy a Mac it is way better than PC and if you want to you can run windows on the Mac with BootCamp so it is the only computer you will need. If you are doing photo editing than I would get the iMac 24″.
1) Cheapest overall purchase cost?
PC
2) Cheapest cost for parts and add-ons?
PC
3) Fastest running speed?
Depends on the specifications. If you’ve got the money, you can make a PC a lot faster than a Mac. Macs are generally less powerful than the PC you get for the same amount.
Looks?
Bueaty is in the eye of the beholder.. But generally Macs are considered more chic. But there are PCs that look good too like acer ferraris

asus lamborghinis
http://microsoftatces.com/photos/storage/1000.6.543.ces-AsusLamborghini.jpg
and sony vaios

etc
5) Reliability (virus & problem free)?
Macs, there are fewer things to go wrong, However, if you know what you are doing, Windows based PCs can be reliable as well. If you want to make a PC rock stable and virus free, install linux on it. Generally with a PC, there is a lot of house keeping involved. You can ignore a mac and expect it to be ready when you are.
6) Most support for programs?
PC have a higher market share.. and thus have more software that runs on them. But genrally either will do for day to day and most specialist applications.
7) Music playing?
Either would do fine..
Picture viewing/editing?
Macs are generally preferred for professional print and photo manipulation because what is displayed matches the output more closely. Either a mac or PC would do fine except for niche categories of professional. ie there are a lot of professionals using either for graphics applications
9) Game playing?
Windows based PC. Most games don’t have a mac version.
10) WHICH ONE IS BEST OVERALL???
Again a matter of preferance. As for me, If I had lots of money that I’d be willing splurge for eye candy and uniqueness (although macs are not as uniqe as once used to be), I’d buy a mac. You can get twice as powerful PC for the same amount you pay for a mac. Since I’m a kind of person who follows the “best bang for the buck” policy, I’m a happy owner of a PC.
