If you are affiliated with a college or other educational institution, you can get an educational discount. Go to the Microsoft Office site and look for an area marketing to students or faculty

Microsoft generates a “Teachers and Students” version of their OS and applications. They are much cheaper than the standard version and have the same functionalty. The only restriction is that you cannot upgrade to a newer version, you must buy a new copy.

I have the student & teacher edition of XP and Office, and I spent around $ 200 dollars instead of $ 1000!

if your a student, teacher, or know a student or a teacher you can get the educational edition of MS Office at a discounted rate. this would be a full legit version of the software.

you can also try Office Live which is a beta test of a web enabled version of MS Office. As Ive read, this version will remain free or low cost after the beta test is finished.

you could also pirate a copy in some form if you dont mind doing somthing illegal. Best way to do this is to ask your friends if they know any Microsoft Certified Partners who get versions of the software for free or insanely cheap prices. These partners are typically retailers or computer technicians who need a version to install many many times.

Buddy, you have to get in the New World of computing software. No one should have to pay for any software like MS word anymore, or ask for it. It is yesterdays news.
Open source programs are where all the new and improved “commercial” programs are growing. Open office 2.0.1 is as good or better than word 2003. The good news it’s free, and it will read almost any other word processors files. it reads word just fine and u can save it back as a word doc. all though I don’t know why u would want to after using the word processor in open office
