ECSI was founded in 1986 to pursue software subcontract and consulting work, with Jeff Edwards the programmer and principal employee and Joyce Edwards the corporate secretary / treasurer. We've had several temporary and part-time employees over the years, but today we are back to the founders; as the business moves to a more web-centered and telecommuting model, we plan to use a network of free lancers instead of additional employees to deal with work overflow.

ECSI occupied a suite of offices near our home in Tampa from 1986 through 1999, although Jeff spent a fair percentage of his time at client sites everywhere from San Diego to Zurich for much of that time. After our son struck off for San Francisco in mid 1999, we decided that the time had come to "get with the program" and think about doing our commuting via the internet. We closed down our rented offices in December of 1999, junked the obsolete "main frame" computer, moved the remains of our 550 square feet of furnishings and equipment into the garage, and set up shop in the house where we are operating today.
