Here’s the thing, the Gateway I have now has been a piece of crap that is also huge and heavy to lug about, gets hot on to the point exactly where when it really is on my lap i place a pillow underneath, and so on. and so on. I want a brand I can trust not to punk out on me, but nonetheless have simple demands and a tight spending budget for this purchase. So, great brand, low cost model. I thought seriously about switching to Mac, but the ibook is pricey, and I want to evaluate it to PCs.

Check customer reports. MAC is ideal, no viruses, etc, and is incredible compatible these days. With considerably the same applications. I use 1 almost exclusively with MS workplace. But they are not low cost. Gate way is crap, hp is a tiny greater. NEC or Dell are tops.

Whatever you do, don’t get an Acer…they are not extremely great personal computers in my opinion. I cannot wait to get one more one. If I had been you, I would get a Dell, Compaq or an HP laptop. I function for geek squad and Toshiba, Gateway, and HP are the best lap tops for windows. DO NOT GET DELL!!! They Do not last extended and the support for programs are crappy. MAC’s are for individuals that hardly know how to use computers. But with a Computer you can do a lot far more stuff like games, applications, and rather significantly everything. i have a Toshiba i got for $ one,800 super quick, and it will final for a long time. If you want areally excellent high quality lap best get one that is 8 or 9 pounds. Get a Gateway I extremely reccomend it. And get a heavy 1. Light lap tops have a low cost within like plastic, and slower everyting.

Ok…I’m a computer geek to the fullest of the word. At 14 I was tearing down and rebuilding computers using parts from 3-4 donors. I can walk circles around ANY windows version or ms-dos version. So far, the best brand that I have worked with, and own, is Hewlett-Packard. Note: Do NOT go with the Compaq brand…HP sells that brand too but don’t be fooled…it’s a piece of crap. My recommendation (I just looked through their site using your specs) would be :HP Pavilion dv6500t series
Take a look at it. It’s like $ 599 or something. So far HP has been great to me. My computer’s warranty ran out over 2 years ago but they still give free support 24/7 365/yr online(chat help). I have had to contact them from time to time to download drivers..etc when I wanted to reformat for one of my new (insane) projects.(I like to tinker…)Anyway…I wouldn’t buy a Dell for all the money in the world.(Read this: http://www.backwoodshome.com/columns/delsignore020210.html ) It tells about the nightmare you will experience if you dare tread into the “Dellzone”.
