Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Inexpensive: I just bought a new laptop or computer with Windows XP Media Center edition and it has neither of these applications that I have lots of old documents on. It only has crappy Microsoft Operates Spreadsheet and WordPad. I need to be in a position to work on my old documents with a decent program. Boy am I p****d off

You can purchase it on ebay a tiny less expensive then from microsoft or greatest acquire or anywhere else that sells if complete cost. Find a person that currently owns it and use their disc to install.

You can’t download either unless it is pirated.
Get Open Workplace at www.openoffice.org It does all microsoft office can and more. Go to the internet site and read up on it.

The best way is to use OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org/ it really is totally free and entirely compatible with Microsoft Office documents. As i know you can’y get Excel or Word out of the Ofice suite.

Try openoffice.org, they are free versions of word, excel and all that, and they are also compatible with word. You can save it in different formats too, like word 98, 2000, all that stuff.
I have to disagree with my fellow answerer’s on this one. I have used OpenOffice, and found it to be garbage for the most part. Sloppy programming and just an all around weak structure. And good luck actually getting it to read your old documents. That a total crap shoot. I would say download a pirated version, but thats not pc. I hate to support Micro$ oft though. If your a student, they cut you a pretty good deal on the Works package which is what you want. I think I saw it cheapest at about $ 150. But let me tell you, if you do a lot of writing, it’s worth every penny. The new Word is SO slick. So, good luck in your endeavor.
