$ 200 at most and that’s kind of pushing it; PCs lose their value fast, not to mention you can get a faster (albeit basic) PC at Walmart for around $ 250.
i wouldnt sell it….mainly due to the fact that reselling a computer doesnt go too well…..if its been over a couple months they dont sell for that much.
id keep it if i were you…also its only got 248 MB of RAM?

Not sure of your exact specs, but similar machines go for $ 25-$ 100 on eBay. At a garage sale, expect the low end unless you feel OK conning a rube.
Have you spent any time investigating current computer system prices? If so, you are aware that right now systems are incredibly inexpensive. Consumers can buy a very up to date system with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 3 gigabytes of RAM for about $ 500.00 or less, if on sale. A machine which probably has Vista Home Premium installed on it. It also can come with a monitor, usually due to a sale promotion, and even get a inexpensive printer thrown in for free too.
I tell you this so if you have not investigated current prices you can have an idea on what your system may be worth. It may be in great shape, which will increase its popularity at a garage sale, but it is still an older, outdated system.
With that said, there are still individuals who would buy this if the price was right. I suggest between $ 75-100.00. If it has a monitor maybe for $ 125.00.
I’d suggest $ 100. but dn’t know that you’d get it. People looking to buy computers at garage sales aren’t lookng to spend lots of money. It’s better to advertise it separately in newspaper ads or craigslist in your area.
The chip speed is quite good, so that lets you ask larger price. But the RAM is only 248M, which is pretty slow. Buyers will need to upgrade to 1G or so to do any really good internet now, so that lowers your price. Win XP is still highly desired.
You didn’t mention hard drive. If it’s less than 40G, it needs replacing only because there’s so much downloaded nowadays by computers that they need easily over 100G. So that means the buyers have to spend some more $ $ upgrading it.
But overall, your computer is still very good, except for the small amt of RAM. I still think it’s worth $ 100. I’ve seen people ask much more for similar computers, but in want ads, where they can ask more for them. So $ 100 is a very good price for a grarage sale.
But as I said, anything that high priced at a garage sale, people just don’t like to spend that much, they’re looking for nickel and dime prices.
I would print out a list of its specs, include what you wrote above, but also include the size of hard drive. You can find that under Control Panel, and System file. That will let people look at the stats without you having to remind them. If people can see visually what the computer has, then they register it much easier. That’s why billboards are so popular because they’re so affective!!
